What is the island of Vilm? The island of Vilm lies in the Greifswald Bodden, directly opposite Lauterbach harbor. It belongs to the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve and is home to one of the oldest beech forests in Europe. Parts of the island are primeval forest – untouched by human hands for centuries.
Can you visit the island of Vilm? Only to a limited extent. The island of Vilm is not a classic excursion destination – access is strictly regulated. A maximum of 36 people per day are allowed to enter the island, exclusively with permission through the biosphere reserve. Those who are lucky and book in time experience something unique.
The best view of Vilm – from Lauterbach Even without permission, you can enjoy the island of Vilm to the fullest – from Lauterbach’s shore. Especially in the morning, when mist lies over the water, the sight is unforgettable. And from the balconies of the Oceanview Residences, you have this view – every morning, without exception.
